Technetium-99m and Xenon-133 Shortage
Nuc Med is anticipating a reduction in these products starting next week. This due to the concurrent shutdown of three European reactors. This shortage is expected to last several weeks and may also affect Xenon-133 supplies shortly thereafter. Thus the ability to obtain Nuc Med studies may be impacted:
- Cardiac Stress testing, Brain perfusion etc.
- We will provide further updates as we become aware.
Happy Care Management Week
We wanted to wish the care management teams a Happy Care Management week!
We are so fortunate to be able to partner with them for our patients. They are an integral part of the team as well as highly appreciated and facilitate so much of what our patients need both within the hospital, as well as afterwards. If you see them, please say Thank You!
New Tools in Excellian
There is a new IV shortage tab for your patient list. It allows you to see who is on IV fluids. Feel free to add to your patient lists if you would like.

Stroke Education
As part of our designation as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, one of the criteria entails mandatory education for all those who care for stroke patients. Hospitalist leadership has attempted to clarity if this pertains to all of us and unfortunately, it does. We have queried the certifying board to verify (DNV). The criteria is 6hrs of stroke specific training is over 2 yrs. Thus, the 3.5 hr module in your Learning Hub. Fortunately, those who have taken it have reported it can be taken in a fraction of that time. CME can be received at the end for the time you spent. The entire criteria is attached for those interested in reviewing (page 40-42)

Lauren and Meghan can do fit testing in our office. We will be offering several days per month. Pages will go out. Please attend when you are due. We are also sending out updates on due dates.

“Denis Sain- Thank you for your succinct, yet detail filled, summary on a patient I picked up from you with endocarditis. Although the plan was in place, I understand that the night shift can be very busy and sometimes challenging to include all the elements of a recent hospital course for a patient coming from far away. It was such a relief to have all the information laid out clearly for me.” – Julie Henseler
“Andrew Rose-Thank you so much for taking a couple of my very undesired shifts!!! You’re the best!” Christine Schmidt
“Mary Anderson- I didn’t get a chance to thank you for reminding me on the Social Determinants of Health” Abdul Esse
“Dr. Erin Wise did such a great job “setting the table” for end of life discussions with a patient that I picked up from her after the weekend. Her extra effort is much appreciated and serves our patient’s well.” – Paul Odenbach
